the story about the Lehua Blossom should be: Ohia and Lehua were lovers. Pele wanted to have Ohia for her own, but when Ohia refused her, Pele had turned Ohia into a tree. Hiiaka, Pele's sister had seen what she had done, and the hurt that Lehua was going through, turned Lehua into a blossom, and placed her on the arm of Ohia. That is why they say that if you pick the Lehua blossom it will rain, because you're breaking Ohia and Lehua apart again

Some of them resemble some that I have as we lived there for 3 1/2 years. but mine are not as good as yours (not as good a camera) They surely did bring me moments of nostalgia..I loved the flowers and the prints of the volcano. I lived on oahu from 1975 to 1996 I sold my house on pupekea and moved to south florida.Your web site promted me to sell my house here and come back home to oahu with my new wife that has never been to the islands. I served in the U.S. Navy for 24 years and was stationed several times in Hawaii and also in Guam, so seeing your pictures brought it all home to me. Thank you for setting up such a lovely website! I have 2 questions, if you have time to answer. What type of digital camera do you use to take the lovely pictures? I've been wanting to get one for a long time, but am clueless on what to buy. Also, the real reason I visited your site, I'm looking for specific Hawaiian embroidery designs, specifically a Hula girl and palm tree that I saw on a denim shirt at a Sears store. I was in Guam because I was stationed onboard the USS PROTEUS AS-19. I was there from December 1988-1991. Those three years are some of my best memories. The weather was always perfect,even the rain! Now years later,Guam still holds a special place in my heart. I would love to go back and make it my home.

It would be interesting to see the volcano in a distant shot so you could see the same of the cone. The other shots were interesting and provided some insite into what the area looks like.

The website was great. We have teacher's appreciation week on the reserve. This year the theme will be Hawaii. I needed to see some pictures of palm trees as well as flowers and other fruit trees. I got a lot of great pictures from this website for out theme week. Also I learned something new - I was always under the impression that pineapples grow on trees until I saw the picture of the pineapple feild. Great info can be found on this site. I think that you have some very beautiful pictures that really capture all of Guams wonderful sites. I was there in July and those pictures look just like mins & the one of the airport at night made me cry because I was so sad to leave Guam and when I did it looked like that and it brought back memories that I had forgotten. Guam is a very beautiful that everyone from all over the world would be in all about if they got to go. The only bad part was flying for over 19 hours from TN. to Guam, but that was an expierence too!!!! GOOD JOB!

I really enjoyed your pictures of Guam. It is just like I remember it on my visit there a few years ago. I could almost feel the humidity and smell the flowers. I loved that island and did not want to return home to the mainland. I would love to go there again some day.

I used to live on Guam from 1969-1974 while my husband ws in the navy at N.A.S. and used to have a polynesian dance group called,"Kanoe's Micronesian Revue" where we entertained at the Red Carpet Nite Club at the Cliff Hotel. I will always have fond memories of Guam. I am currently living in Orlando, Florida. Your pictures are beautiful and reminds me of the wonderful time we had while we lived there.

Guam is Good! I am a native of Guam and I left the Island some 30-40 years ago. I now live in state of Tennessee. I went to school in Honolulu, Hawaii then moved on to California in the early 60s. Since then I've been all over the world, but I wouldn't trade our Island for any other. Home is always home to me--and I really missed Guam. I wish that my kids and my grand-kids will have the chance to see Guam one day. Thank you for your wonderful work and I wish to visit more like it. i knew the nikon coolpix is an excellent camera... but the lens are really sharp and crisp. Definitely sealed the deal on this one ... i am going to purchase the camera... Are all the photos taken with the coolpix950? Nice work very nice composition good selection of subjects very colorful u certainly utilized the capability of the camera. Good work ....

My husband, son and I lived there for five years and loved every second of it. I didn't want to leave, but the Air Force said we had to go. I'm in Fort Worth, Texas........I used to chat with a lady on the other side of the Island from Honolulu on Powwow, and could hear the waves hitting the shoreline, while the music was playing at a luau.
